Our Story

We sketch it, print it, break it and build it again, until every piece is worth reaching for.

We Make Things That Get Used

Arvo Studio is a small studio. We sketch, print, break and rebuild every piece until it becomes something worth reaching for, and worth reaching for again.

Plix is where the playful half of that work lives: Widgy, our range of wooden animals and shape play, and Clikitz, the press, turn and click family. Glow is the other half, 3D-printed decorative lighting for the rooms we live in.

Nothing leaves the bench until it has been prototyped, handled, and dropped a few more times than seems reasonable.

How A Piece Gets Made

  1. Sketch It

    Every piece starts as a drawing on the bench. Shapes first, colours later, always sized to a small hand.

  2. Model It

    Then it goes into CAD, where the drawing picks up real dimensions. Wall thickness, tolerances, and every part that has to meet another one.

  3. Print It

    The first one gets made here, usually the same week. Holding a thing tells you more than looking at it.

  4. Break It

    Then we hand it over and let kids do their worst. Whatever survives the afternoon is worth keeping.

  5. Build It Again

    Back to the bench with everything that broke. Most pieces go round this loop more than once.
